Performance Highlights

Between April 2009 and March 2010:
  • Crime reduced by 11.8%, which is 13,816 fewer crimes last year.  (37 fewer victims of crime per day)
  • A 6.7% reduction in violence against the person.
  • Sexual Offences have reduced by 14.1%
  • Robberies reduced by 25.2%
  • Overall Violent Crime has reduced by 7.7%
  • Burglary reduced by 16.1% overall
The Police Authority has a responsibility to monitor and scrutinise performance levels within South Wales Police – in other words to make sure the force is doing its job well.
 
The pages within this section illustrate the current level of performance for the force, and for each of the four policing divisions. The performance is calculated against the targets set by the Police Authority at the beginning of the year.
