Disability Equality Scheme

Disability Equality Scheme

We recognise that respect for equality is essential to public organisations such as ours. It is a fundamental principle that we should strive to ensure that those who work or have dealings with us are made to feel welcome and are not in way discriminated against because of their race, age, gender, religion, belief, sexual orientation or disability.

This Disability Equality Scheme sets out how South Wales Police Authority will promote disability equality. It is a key responsibility of all Police Authorities to ensure police forces operate efficiently and effectively. This includes monitoring how the force promotes disability equality.

Our Disability Equality Duty includes the need to:
  • Eliminate disability related harassment
  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination
  • Promote equal opportunities
  • Promote positive attitudes towards disabled persons
  • Encourage participation by disabled persons in public life
