The Authority’s primary function is to hold the Force to account on behalf of the public and to ensure that an effective and efficient police service is being delivered across South Wales.
In order to do this, the Authority monitors and scrutinises the work and performance of the Force and consults with communities across South Wales to find out their views and opinions on policing priorities and style.
The Police Authority has a statutory duty to promote equality and diversity in the Force as well as the Authority. We are fully committed to meeting this duty and to recognising the benefits that promoting equality brings to the Police Authority, the Force and the communities of South Wales.
Our Commitment to Equality & Diversity
South Wales Police Authority is committed to working for equality and fairness for everyone. We work to ensure that respect for equality, diversity and human rights is evident and promoted in all that we do and that in carrying out all our functions we aim to eliminate discrimination and harassment, and promote equality, diversity and accessibility.
We recognise the importance of respecting and valuing difference, knowing that the Police Authority and our communities are enriched by the diversity that exists in South Wales. We strive to reflect this diversity within the Police Authority and to actively encourage it within the Force.
