The Community Safety Volunteer Awards recognise the unsung heroes in our communities – our ‘Shining Lights’.

There are a lot of people who voluntarily work to make our communities safer, with little or no recognition. We started the awards as a thank you for the commitment they show.

This year, we have four categories:
  • Community Safety Volunteer (one winner per council area)
  • Young Community Safety Volunteer (under 21 years old)
  • Community Safety Volunteer Team
  • Community Safety Volunteer Initiative

Who can be nominated?

Nominations are open to anyone who works voluntarily to help keep South Wales safe. Previous nominees include those who work with Neighbourhood Watch and Crime Prevention Panels, youth club leaders, sport club coaches and victim support volunteers.

There are no age limits for who can be nominated. Our previous nominees have ranged from just 10 years old to over 90. The only requirement is that the work they do is on a voluntary basis.
