Each year, we have a small amount of money available to distribute to local organisations and charities. This money is from the Police Property Act Fund.
Property which comes into the possession of the police in connection with a crime and where the owner cannot be found can be sold, with the money being kept in what is known as the Police Property Act Fund.
The same is true for property which has been forfeited by convicted persons by order of a court, as it was used or intended for use in a crime.
How the money is raised
Funds are raised for the Police Property Act Fund by the sale of property which comes into the police possession. If the owners cannot be found, the items are sold at auctions. You can find out more information on these at:
