Councillor Members are appointed via a Joint Committee, which is made up of representatives from each of the seven Local Authorities within South Wales:

One Councillor from each Authority is appointed, along with an additional member from Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Swansea Councils, as the largest within the area.
The Councillor membership of the Authority must be representative of the political make up of South Wales. At present, this is as follows:
